This past Saturday, the Known Gallery and gallery director Casey Zoltan, presented an exhibition titled Assorted Flavor which featured the eclectic work of seven different artists. The lineup included the likes of Kevin Ancell, Jason Jägel, Saber, Patrick Martinez, Greg Lamarche, Push and Augustine Kofie. Displayed across a wide open space perfectly suitable for this kind of exhibit, the artwork showed an interesting mix of graffiti-style art, mixed media work, and even some traditional painting……

I have known Push since I was 13 years old. We grew up skating together and eventually both followed the path of painting. Many layers of years have blurred upon each other, but the one single focus that binds us together as friends is this obsession with art. It’s like a compulsion for the contemplation of this visual language. What I mean is, this path has taken over most aspects of our lives and well-being.
Push is an individual who never rests. He is in a perpetual search for an answer. He isolates himself from outside influences almost as an attempt to keep his mental-scape pallet pure. He has been on a hunt for a progression of style that eventually has led him to his current work. If you saw Push’s style timeline you would be perplexed on how he came to some of his conclusions. His work speaks for itself in the essence that the viewers own voice becomes the base of the work. I guess a good analogy would be how everyone’s taste buds react to foods differently. Push’s simple yet complex concoction casts a powerful spell. His work has no shelf life, beginning in the concrete maze and allowing its destiny to find their way to be hung on great walls………….

It was a great opening, with a large eclectic group of artists. Definitely some heavy hitters.

I just went to the clothing trade show Magic, held in Las Vegas.
It was the typical magic experience, everyone competing to be noticed. Definitely no shortage of characters walking around, fake tits and bad tattoos.
The Seventh Letter “Royal Art Show” was strategically placed by the entrance, so anyone who walked into the convention passed by our display. This was the first year Magic has ever hosted any type of art exhibition.
Over the years I’ve seen graffiti art influence and be taken advantage of by the street wear industry. This exhibition was a great way for us to show people where its source is.
The “Royal Art Show” consisted of two beautiful hand-crafted motorcycle and canvass by Rime, Push, Revok, Retna, Zes, Ewok, Reyes, and myself.
