  4. Here is an example of why california is now the laughing stock of the country. instead of spending that money on things that are really truly needed for the well bieng of our state they spend it on covering/cleaning shit that inspires our city. Its a shame that your piece was covered but its still under that paint and its still a part of our city’s history.

  6. You truly made history. Not alot of people can say that. You are a huge personal inspiration. It is sad what happend, but it is even more of a compliment to what graffiti is about. Keep crushin shit homie, they cant undo the dumb decisions they make. You can keep contributing to them making them those bad decisions like covering amazing art. Fuck them, stay up homie!

  8. It felt like someone died. When that year contract is over the river is just going to be taken back. There is some bullshit spending hidden in that recovery act. It’s kinda funny that it is being represented in a museum yet at the same time they’re destroying the actual monument.

  11. I couldn’t believe this when I read about what was happening. I seriously can’t understand what goes through peoples minds when they say they want to make this world a better “looking” place and then they go destroy an epic piece of art. Surely just a giant white patch on the embankment looks a lot worse and they must know this. Really does piss me off. Your work is what got me into graffiti and still inspires everything I do.

    Stay up man.
    Much Respect.

  15. This was done out of spite, and hate, and to teach a lesson from a grumpy, jealous sour loser no life politition.

  16. This piece made history! Even though the piece has been buffed, it was well documented and in the end will go down as part of Art History. The LA river piece inspired every writer to go bigger and badder. Hopefully when people read about this monumental mural in the future, the villains (politicians) will be brought to light and I hope their political legacies are ruined for it.

  18. When I first heard of SABER I was in shock and amazement at the immensity of his reach as far as skill, style, and sheer balls. The L.A. River piece has seriously been one of the most influential things in my graff career.I’m shure countless other writers everywhere would agree.

Its honestly ridiculous to hear that the city of LA would buff a fuckin part of history. I feel like its a big loss for the graff world. Non the less the LA river pice has served as inspiration for writters for over a decade! But if any thing its not a complete loss the piece HAS served a purpose and it won’t easily be forgoten. So if Sab decides to go even harder in light of this unfortunate event I wouldn’t be surprised. And if not, well its good to know it existed.

Much respect to big SABER. Stay up!

  19. This shit was totally legendary its a joke that buffing it was even on the agenda when our schools and everything else is going to shit, fuck the buff, the story behind this peice is extrordinary but even with that the fact that they had to drop 900,000$ to buff this just shows how sick it is. stay up saber.

  24. It’s kind of unreal every time i see a piece getting painted over or removed. or even seeing the result, seeing a place where i know a piece used to be. well, it was all the more so when watching that footage of the saber/la river piece getting painted over. ‘destroyed’, one could call it. i do not even want to dwell on why anyone would deem it neccessary to do such a thing (that money could have been put to better use and created employment in better ways elsewhere). i feel bad for saber; it has to hurt, especially after going through the trouble of practically re-doing the whole thing (endless props for that!). but coming back to that weird feeling – i wonder how those workers felt. to the people who authorized this act: destroying something so beautiful, what kind of a person would that make one?

    yo saber:
    my respect(s),

That piece made me want to become a better artists. Your the greatest artist of all times fuck ja and for them buffing it. It hurt me when I found out but I will always remeber it and think of it when I drive across it to my grandmas house. Thanks for the art saber from Roger Aka RaW !

    Comment by Roger Aka RaW ! — September 28, 2009 @ 11:12 pm
  28. @ RaW

You say fuck Ja for what he did.. Saber should not have gone over a guy who passed away.

    @ Saber

It really is awful that they removed it.. I just can’t imagine why they would do something so stupid. Especially with the budget crisis they have over there. Yeesh, you risked your ability to walk working on that!

My condolences man =[ it really is sad

    Comment by Machupa — February 5, 2010 @ 2:07 pm
  29. @Machupa I appreciate the condolences, more then you know. But…. I NEVER went over Sane, I’ve never even been in front of one of his any of his work. I have no idea where that rumor started, and would like to see some proof. Much respect to all the dead writers.
