Red Tail Hawk

This Red Tail hawk has been stalking the skies above my part of town. I caught it perched on a telephone pole checking out all of his options for lunch.

It’s interesting to watch the reaction from the other types of birds. When the hawk comes around they all quickly scatter for cover, the sky is completely clear except for him. Every once and awhile a crew of crows will try to gang up on the Red Tail, but he always keeps his composure.

LATEST OIL PAINTING….. “THE LAST STOP”

Recently I was walking near Japan Town with my friend Push. We were on our way to eat when we stumbled across this shrouded figure just settling in for sleep. I immediately got an eerie feeling in my stomach. The way the person was sitting up in the intense lighting, it gave off a dark extraterrestrial/grim reaper-like vibe.

To my luck Push had his camera and I got excellent photographic reference for an oil painting.

I sometimes feel a little guilty taking photos of people who are down and out, but as they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think that it’s the stories of our adaptation to circumstances that I find so fascinating and I want to highlight the beauty that I see within them.

Here the mysterious figure has his light provided by the infrastructure of the city, yet the soul and the physical body are left to fend for themselves, alone, collecting items to feel any small comfort. The hooded figure radiates suffering, yet through his shroud he glares directly into the viewer, imposing his darkness through guilt. “Last Stop”

Saber Limited Edition Montana Spray Can

Spanish Montana has recently released their new line of limited edition “art” cans.

This round of cans also highlights the legendary Seen and Dondi from NYC. I consider it to be a benchmark in my career to be amongst these two graffiti giants.

When I was a kid, never in my wildest dreams did I think I would have my own designer can.

*If your looking to get one, the cans aren’t on the MTN website anymore. I think they must have sold out

Visionary Art With Alex Grey

Saber Painting At Alex Grey Event

Saber And Alex Grey

Guy Aitchison And Michelle Wortman

Alex Grey has been an inspiration to me for many years. I was invited to spend some time with him at the Visionary Art event in Downtown LA.

Originally the ever-prolific Guy Aitchison hooked me up with Alex to participate in a live painting session. I was even put on the spot to speak about aspects of the Graff movement and how it relates to Visionary Art.

This movement is deep routed in the combination of psychedelics and the journey of self-awareness. I was honored to participate in the creative process with such great artists. All the artists who painted came through with amazing pieces.

P.S. If you not into the Burning Man aftermath, then some of this crowd might be a little out of your comfort zone.
